345 California Street – San
Francisco, CA One of the capabilities that
distinguish Sheedy from its competitors is the hoisting of
material and equipment to the top of high-rise buildings
that are beyond the reach of conventional cranes. This is
accomplished through the use of guy derricks, Chicago
booms, and roof mount cranes; a segment of the crane
industry that requires special knowledge, experience and
skill sets to ensure safe installation and operation.
When the high-rise at 345 California Street was
originally erected, Sheedy’s 50-ton roof mount crane was
used to hoist building materials atop the 48-story
structure in downtown San Francisco. 25 years later,
Sheedy came back again to replace the twin flagpoles that
had been damaged through the years by wind and rain. A
7-ton capacity guy derrick was carried up internal
elevators to the roof where our experienced rigging crews
assembled it by hand. The derrick was then used to hoist
the 50-ton roof mount crane in pieces where it was then
used to replace the flagpoles and provide a work platform
for other work to be performed. The crane is shown here
configured with 100’ main boom and 45’ jib. |
